Liebster... No, Infinity Dreams Award!

Not mine, Bryleigh's
By now you must have noticed that I post my award posts weeks after I get the message that I've been nominated. Almost a month ago, Bryleigh nominated me for the Infinity Dreams Award (thank you Bryleigh!). Today I finally found the time to do this award post, so I visited A Little Yarn Blossom and copied the questions from Bryleigh's Liebster Award in disguise.
For a little while I was seriously confused with this 'new' award. Let's take a short look at the rules, shall we?

*Thank and follow the person who tagged you.
*Tell us 11 facts about you.
*Answer the questions that were set for you.
*Nominate 11 bloggers and give them questions.

Now isn't that just the Liebster Award under a different name or am I going crazy? Anyway, eleven facts. Eleven...

  1. I speak four languages and an translate two 'dead' languages to Dutch
  2. I tried to learn Mandarin, but couldn't pronounce anything correctly
  3. I found out, five minutes ago, that there's a Dutch publishing house focusing on Dutch YA writers
  4. I wish I had a Dutch writing buddy so I could get feedback right away instead of translating stuff (which doesn't make it better either)
  5. I used to have a carnivorous plant called Rufus
  6. I got overexcited when Google sent me a notification saying they're verifying my Adsense account so they can start payment soon
  7. I have at least ten half-finished novels lying around
  8. I'm thinking of retelling some of my favorite myths and legends with an Envy-twist
  9. Mythology fascinates me - and I don't just mean Percy Jackson, I mean the real deal
  10. I thought translating a story from Dutch to English would be a piece of cake, but it's super difficult
  11. It's bugging me that I'm just doing another Liebster post but under a different name
Next thing up: the questions Bryleigh asked me:

1) Have you ever learned to play an instrument? If so, what?
When I started high school I desperately wanted to learn to play the guitar, but I didn't have time or money for lessons. So I watched a YouTube video and tried to play Taylor Swift's Speak Now. It resulted in painful fingertips, an annoyed mom and a lot of frustration.
I can still play those four chords though :P

2) Cats or Dogs?

Neither. My dad has allergies. I grew up without animals around the house, so I get nervous when an animal approaches me for no apparent reason.

3) Do you know how to play Checkers?

Yes, yes I do. Last time I played was two years ago. E. beat me big time and I've refused to play ever since. I'm a bit of a sore loser when it comes to games like checkers and chess.

4) Do you have a favourite YouTuber?

I'm about the only blogger who doesn't idolize YouTubers, aren't I? I barely watch YouTube videos. I tried it some time ago and it just didn't do it for me.

5) E-book or real book?

I'm a book sniffer. You can't sniff books if you're not holding an actual book. Besides, I read one E-book and found myself staring at the table where usually the other page is when you're reading an actual book. Staring at tables every other page does not make reading more enjoyable.

6) Soup or salad?

Salad. I don't know what's so great about soup. To me, soups are the YouTubers of food. It's okay for a while, but something is just not there.

7) Gold or Silver?

Silver. I'm a very monochromous person. My hair and skin have the same golden glow in the summer, I don't want to make it worse by wearing gold. If I did that, I'd be like a gigantic blob of gold.

8) What's the hottest temperature ever been where you live?

Probably somewhere around 40 degrees Celsius.

9) Do you like ice cream?

You have to ask if I like ice cream? That's like asking someone if she likes pizza. I'm a white girl, of course I like ice cream. Doesn't my stereotype clearly state that?

10)Where do you blog?
Here, in my bedroom.

11) Favourite candy?
Licorice.

Because I'm too lazy to think of any questions, I'm going to skip ahead to 'coming soon...'
Coming soon: A delightful story about an acoholic vampire, Story Time, my Mandarin class 'success' and more!

Stay Awesome!

    1. I get anxious around pets. All other animals, like foxes, terrify me XD
I know the rules of chess. Played that with E. too (he made me play, I didn't want to) and lost. It was humiliating, I had literally no idea what I was doing while he plays chess every week and my total of chess games plays adds up to... 9.
And yes, I scored a 100%, but there's a lot more to that score than meets the eye. It's coming up soon as a College Experience post in disguise :)
The carnivorous plant is getting his own post too. Story is kinda funny :P

    1. Terrified is what I am around farm animals and wild animals. Pets make me nervous. Especially when they're just staring at you and you have no idea what they're going to do O.o

  3. That was my exact reaction to the question with ice cream - I automatically think everybody loves ice cream because it's just one of the most amazing things ever created. Along with pizza. :D

  5. I love smelling books too! People tend to say that I'm strange in that aspect, but well, it's a part of what I love about them..

    1. My friends used to think it was strange that I smelled books. Then I pushed a book in their face and made them sniff it. After that, we used to do it all together and Judge the smell as some kind of jury XD

  7. Gosh! Liquorice is amazing. Best sweet ever:) I also love smelling books. That's why I borrow books from the library so often instead of just buying them as ebooks.

    1. Liquorice is the best :D
Library books Always smell so... I don't know, as if they're lived. My local library doesn't have a lot of books I'd like to read, so I buy most of my books at the book store. They smell great, but sometimes I miss the smell of old library books.

  8. I love smelling books! That's what I do to every book before I read it. I actually had a conversation about this with a group who thought I was crazy and then another group over heard and then another and everybody thought I was crazy for doing a perfectly sane thing!: smelling books!

    1. All those people who said you're crazy for smelling books clearly never sniffed a good book. There's nothing wrong with smelling those beautiful pages!

  9. Wow, it's great that you're multi-lingual, it'll be really easy when travelling overseas knowing several languages. :) I took Conversational Mandarin classes in school years ago, and I remember some words and understand them, but I can't write anything in Chinese characters. Dutch seems like a fun language to learn too. So far, the only Dutch vocabulary I know is 'Hallo', which is probably really nothing much, haha. What's some other common phrases, like, 'How are you?' in Dutch? :) Licorice seems like a pretty popular candy, but I tasted one before, and it was pretty sour, so it was a bad first impression. It must have been the wrong flavour or something. :)

    1. The thing about being Dutch is that I have to learn multiple languages, since no one speaks mine. Besides, I love learning languages, discovering new words and ways to express myself.
Maybe I shut put a post together with basic Dutch vocabulary. I recently learned how to make a video about German grammar (boring college classes are boring), so I could teach people a little Dutch here. I have to warn you though: pronunciation isn't as easy as you'd expect ;)
Another good thing abou being Dutch is the amount of licorice we have. We have dozens and dozens of flavours and types. Sweet, salt, soft, everything :) So I guess you had a bit of bad luck with the candy, because there are so many flavours that are truly amazing :)
