Let's Set Some Goals for 2017

by - 1:26 PM

To be honest, I'm quite a lazy person. If it weren't for other people, I'd completely forget to set some goals for the new year. Luckily there are always some lovely people online to remind me. This year I've teamed up with Shaima from The Mysterious Emirati: we're posting our goals and resolutions for 2017 together (but apart), so if you're done reading this post, head over to The Mysterious Emirati to check out hers as well!

I have a tiny little confession to make though: I'm a bit afraid of 2017. 2016 has been so good to me that I'm afraid I'll have to pay the price for it in 2017. Years ending in odd numbers are usually a little less good to me, but this time I'm determined not to let that happen! I've set some goals for myself that'll hopefully make 2017 at least as amazing as 2016 was for me. So without further ado, here's my gameplan for 2017!

Goal 1: Reach 500 followers on Twitter
Some time in early 2016 I got addicted to social media. I've always had a thing for stats and Twitter Analytics is like heaven to me. I've got goals set for Instagram, Bloglovin', GFC and might even try Facebook, but Twitter is by far my favorite. Last year I gained almost 300 followers, so 500 should be doable considering that I won't have as much time now as I did last year.

Goal 2: Do at least 5 thing from my Make it Happen List
This goal may sound familiar. In my last post I told about how I reached it in 2016 and since I had a lot of fun with it I decided to set the same goal for this year. I've already got a few things in mind. Can you guess which ones? You can find my Make it Happen List here.

Goal 3: Get to 180 college credits
So I very much underestimated just how tough junior year was going to be. At the end of the academic year in June I should have a total of 180 credits, but realistically speaking I should be happy if I reach 165. It wouldn't be ideal, but 180 by June is damn near impossible with this curriculum. 180 by December is a much better goal.

Goal 4: Visit at least one new country
By now I can confidently say that travelling is what keeps me sane. Going to the same countries over and over again has the opposite effect though. The chances of leaving the continent aren't huge, but I've never been to Scandinavia and Eastern Europe is painfully colorless on my travel bag. If I can get a good offer I might visit the United Arab Emirates. It all depends on money and time though. And also on my boyfriend's plans. I really hope I can go to at least one place with him.

Goal 5: Be more professional when it comes to blogging
Professionalism is probably the last word people think of when they think of me. It doesn't really bother me. I just do things my way. However, recently I've come to realize that there are some tiny things I can do to make my blog just a little bit better. Spelling checks for a start. Being consistent in scheduling promo tweets. Using the 'read more' option to make my blog look cleaner. That kind of stuff. Seems like a nice little step in the right direction.

Goal 6: Find a career path I do want to follow
So I'm currently in college to become a high school teacher. I'm supposed to teach German. Now I love German. Teaching German though? Well, not so much. It's about time to start looking at other options. I love languages, translating and also bossing people around. Should be something I can do with that, right?

So these are my goals for 2017, and don't forget tho check out Shaima's as well over at The Mysterious Emirati! Without her, this post wouldn't be here!

  7. Hi! I just found your blog and I'm having fun looking around!
And I'm so with you on finding a carer path this year- I practically ask people on the street what they do/if they like it/how they got into it.
    It's....unique.
Anywaysss, you have a lovely blog!

    1. Hi! Good to hear you're having fun here on my blog :)
Maybe I should start asking people those questions as well! I've got a vague idea of what I want to do, but now I need to know which qualifications I'm going to need. It's going to be a big year, that's for sure!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!
